Myers, 19, was one of four Canadians selected by the Blue Jays in the Major League Baseball draft this week.

He has “pretty impressive speed,” Blue Jays director of amateur scouting Steve Sanders said on the team’s website.

The six-foot-three, 195-pound Myers has committed to the University of South Carolina for next season after playing two seasons at Wabash Valley College in Mount Carmel, Ill.

He led the National Junior College Athletic Association’s Division I this season with 77 stolen bases and 92 runs in 59 games.

He batted .397 with eight home runs and 60 RBIs. He had a .531 on-base percentage and .613 slugging percentage.

The Lambton Central graduate and former Sarnia Brave went to college after playing for the London-based Great Lakes Canadians.

“Noah’s amazing,” Canadians director of baseball operations and ex-major leaguer Chris Robinson said on the Blue Jays’ website. “He’s a great story. He wasn’t the most highly recruited player, he wasn’t a draft prospect out of high school, and he made a very mature decision to go to a very strong junior college and it paid off for him.”
