Chatham-Kent’s Gordon Bradley and Bjorn Schenk won the boys’ doubles final in the high school division at the SWOSSAA tennis championship Saturday in Sarnia.

Ursuline’s Mary Bondy and Gillian Wells were runners-up in the high school girls’ doubles final.

Both teams have qualified for the OFSAA championship May 30 to June 1 in Toronto.

Pain Court’s Ryan Brophy was third and McGregor’s Liam Cook was fourth in high school boys’ singles.

Ursuline’s Samantha Lozon was third and McGregor’s Paula Perez was fourth in high school girls’ singles.

McGregor’s Brady Marks and Kaitlyn Sammon were fourth in high school mixed doubles.

The other high school champions were: Riverside’s Aleksandra Radevski, girls’ singles; Northern’s Jaxon Bore, boys’ singles; Ste. Cecile’s Eesha Atikukke and Anjali Atikukke, girls’ doubles; and Tecumseh Vista’s Liam Hayes and Madeline Cherian, mixed doubles.

The open division champions were: Villanova’s JT Langlois, boys’ singles; St. Joseph’s Anika Yap, girls’ singles; Northern’s Ryan Davies and Divyesh Bhargava, boys’ doubles; and Villanova’s Alexa Tortola and Alyssa Boschin, girls’ doubles.

Carleton perfect in Lynx’s first win

Chatham’s Bridget Carleton matched her season-high with eight points on 3-of-3 shooting in the Minnesota Lynx’s 87-84 win over the Los Angeles Sparks on Tuesday in Los Angeles.

Carleton hit two three-pointers as the Lynx (1-4) earned their first win of the WNBA season.

They’ll visit the Las Vegas Aces on Thursday and the Dallas Wings on Saturday.

Lancers, Hawks set for rugby final

The Ursuline Lancers will host the Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks in the LKSSAA senior girls’ rugby final at 5:30 p.m. Thursday at Ursuline College Chatham.

Jillian Vickery scored three tries and added a conversion in the Lancers’ 47-5 semifinal win over the Northern Vikings on Tuesday. Megan Beselaere scored two tries and Vanessa Funes-Delpech, Chloe Handsor, Rowan Taylor and Victoria Matteis had one apiece.

Sophia Phair scored two tries and Meghan Fife had one in the Golden Hawks’ 21-19 semifinal win over the Lambton Central Lancers.

Balan’s hat trick fuels CKSS win

Abby Balan’s hat trick led the Chatham-Kent Golden Hawks to a 5-1 semifinal win over the Northern Vikings in LKSSAA ‘AAA’ senior girls’ soccer Wednesday.

Jeanette Legere and Cassandra Newcombe also scored for the Hawks, while Charlize Wildschut tallied for the Vikings.

Chatham-Kent will play either Ursuline or St. Patrick’s in Friday’s final.

Ursuline, St. Pat’s in boys’ soccer final

Ursuline will host St. Patrick’s in the LKSSAA ‘AAA’ senior boys’ soccer final at 4 p.m. Thursday.

Ursuline beat Northern 2-1 in overtime in a semifinal Tuesday. After the teams went scoreless in regulation, Ursuline’s Aiden Arnold scored in each extra half for a 2-0 lead before Andy Hnatyshyn replied for Northern.

St. Patrick’s beat Chatham-Kent 2-0 in the other semifinal.

Tartans, Panthers to host soccer finals

The Wallaceburg Tartans will host the Great Lakes Wolfpack in the LKSSAA ‘AA’ senior girls’ soccer final at 4 p.m. Thursday.

The top-seeded Tartans had a bye to the final, while the Wolfpack beat the Lambton Central Lancers 3-2 in penalty kicks in Tuesday’s semifinal.

On Friday, the top-seeded McGregor Panthers will host either the Tartans or Wolfpack in the ‘AA’ senior boys’ final at 4 p.m.

Eagles, Patriotes in soccer twinbill

The North Lambton Eagles will host the Pain Court Patriotes in an LKSSAA ‘A’ soccer championship doubleheader Thursday.

The senior girls play at 4 p.m. and the senior boys follow at 6 p.m.

Pain Court beat Tilbury 1-0 and North Lambton defeated Lambton-Kent 5-0 in the girls’ semifinals Tuesday.

North Lambton downed Lambton-Kent 9-0 and Pain Court beat Tilbury 2-0 in the boys’ semifinals Monday.
