Marinaro and Moore-Towers are coming off a sixth-place finish at the Skate Canada International competition last month.

Sting’s Daviault on Canada White

Sarnia Sting defenceman Alexis Daviault will play for Canada White when the Capital City Challenge begins Friday in Ottawa.

The four-team tournament features three under-17 men’s squads – Canada White, Canada Red and Canada Black – and Canada’s national women’s team.

The tournament is intended to be a one-time event replacing the World Under-17 Hockey Challenge, which was cancelled this year because of the COVID-19 pandemic.

The five-foot-11, 172-pound Daviault has two assists and a plus-five rating in 11 games with the Sting in his rookie season.

Canada White will play the national women’s team Friday, Canada Red on Sunday and Canada Black on Monday. The semifinals are Tuesday and the medal games are Wednesday.

Flags, Flyers in PJHL prospects game

The Mooretown Flags and Petrolia Flyers each have two players selected for a Provincial Junior Hockey League prospects game to be played Dec. 18 in Norwich.

Defenceman Bo Doxtator and forward Quinton Johnston of the Flags and forwards Evan Morningstar and Andrew Jaques of the Flyers will play for the Western Conference against the Southern Conference.

The game is for the top 16- and 17-year-olds in each conference.

Another prospects game for the Northern and Eastern conferences will be played Dec. 11 in Orillia.

Three OHL teams in CHL rankings

Three Ontario Hockey League teams are in the Canadian Hockey League’s weekly top-10 rankings released Wednesday.

The London Knights are down to No. 5, the Mississauga Steelheads are No. 8 and the North Bay Battalion are No. 9.

The Kingston Frontenacs received honourable mention.

Western Hockey League teams occupy the top four spots, led by the Winnipeg Ice at No. 1.
