Cobblestone Elementary School recently captured the C.A.G.E. intermediate co-ed basketball championship.

NPC rugby girls go 3-1

North Park Collegiate’s girls rugby team went 3-1 at a tournament in London this week.

North Park beat Beal 10-0 as Megan Wonch and Aisha Fagan-Simms scored tries.

In a 15-5 win against Saunders, Harlee Carmichael, Tristan Dynerowicz and Kyera Silver scored tries.

Following a 20-5 win against Glendale – a game that included two tries each from Mya Allen and Harlee Carmichael – NPC lost 10-5 to Blessed Trinity. Hayden Lombardi scored the lone try.

Fastpitch tournament

The Queens of the Diamonds Victoria Day Classic fastpitch tournament is returning after a two-year absence due to COVID-19.

The tournament, hosted by the Brantford Bobcats, will feature more than 1,000 of the top-level fastpitch players from Ontario and Quebec playing more than 300 games from May 20-23.

Divisions range from under-12 to under-23 with 89 representative travel teams taking part. Games will be played in Brantford at the Steve Brown Sports Complex, Jaycee Park and Branlyn as well as in Paris, Princeton and Drumbo.

“It is wonderful to be able to showcase the excellence in our sport at our own host event,” Jacqui Cloet, president of the Brantford Minor Softball Association, said in a release.

“After two years off due to the pandemic we are looking forward to lots of sunshine and warmer temperatures this weekend.”
