Brantford beats Owen Sound 5-1 to move up standings

Make it two in a row for the Brantford Bulldogs.

Following a 5-1 victory in Oshawa on Friday against the Generals, the Bulldogs scored a 5-2 road win against the Owen Sound Attack on Saturday.

Starting at 3:19 of the first period, Brantford scored three times in just under five minutes to get things rolling against Owen Sound.

Goals from Jake O’Brien, Jorian Donovan and Florian Xhekaj were followed by a Luca Testa goal in the second period and a Marek Vanacker marker in the third period.

O’Brien, Donovan, Vanacker and Testa also got an assist each to record two-point nights.

Matteo Drobac stopped 35 shots in goal to earn the win.

With its two weekend wins, Brantford (3-5-1-0) has now climbed from 10th in the Eastern Conference to seventh.

The Bulldogs return to action on Friday when they host the North Bay Battalion (4-3-1-1) in a 7 p.m. game at the Brantford Civic Centre.
