Langton was also undefeated at the Georgina Regional Silver Stick Championship where they had qualified for the Pelham International tourney.

The competition in Pelham was fierce, said Langton B&C Farms coach Bryan Hall, saying teams they played would give some rep teams a run.

The 12-player B&C atoms have good depth on the bench, said Hall, and some elite players to push them forward – and it was needed in Pelham.

“We ran into goalies up there that we don’t see around here,” said Hall. “We were there to win and we just kept pouring it on.”

In Pelham, B&C Farms defeated Cayuga 11-0, Port Huron 8-7, Aylmer 9-3, Wasaga Beach/Penetang 7-0 and Kanata 8-5 to advance to the finals. In the championship game, the B&C Langton Leafs shut out Lambton Shores 3-0 to win their Atom LL title.

“We played a team from Michigan (Port Huron) that hadn’t lost a game in two years,” Hall noted. “All the teams there were good teams. Kanata (Ottawa area), I think we played them in the semifinals, their coaches said to us after the game ‘You’re a good team… passing, then dropping the puck, passing… I don’t know what drills you’re doing, but they work.’ It’s nice to play teams that win because they are gracious in defeat.”

“A coach from Lambton came up to us and said, ‘Awesome job.'”

In Southern Counties, the Langton atoms have only lost one game this season, a 6-5 decision in Paris. Langton rebounded to defeat the Wolf Pack 10-3 in Langton on Jan. 16.

Playoffs are coming up with eight games on their calendar in February and March.

“I told the kids before this game (Jan. l6), ‘you’re going to have a target on your back now.’ Paris is the only team that has beaten us.”

“And we were short-handed, we only had six players,” noted Langton B&C manager Andrea Crowder, “and we only lost by one goal in the last 47 seconds.”

“Just from the hockey that we’ve been playing, I think they’ve been playing that much better,” said Hall.
