Like a boxer, Woodbine Entertainment is hoping to jab its way to victory over the COVID-19 virus.
As first reported in the Toronto Sun, Woodbine Entertainment will be hosting a Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic at the Rexdale racetrack — which is located in a COVID-19 “hot spot” — beginning on Wed. May 5, 2021, at 10 a.m. for the Rexdale community.
The vaccine clinic is supported by the North Etobicoke Community Cluster Partners and will operate for a minimum of three days and is open to individuals 18 years and older in 2021 and living in ‘hot spot’ communities in M9V and M9W.
The Pop-Up COVID-19 Vaccine Clinic also will be open to frontline essential workers who provide daily care to the horses stabled at Woodbine Racetrack.
Woodbine Entertainment CEO Jim Lawson hopes that the Ontario government will allow thoroughbred racing to begin if enough backstretch workers are vaccinated.
