Vancouver Giants extend win streak to six straight with comeback over Everett Silvertips
NHL draft picks Ostapchuk, Lysell, Cotton, Sourdif and Vikman lead the way as Giants bounce back from 3-1 and 4-3 deficits to claim 6-5 win

The Kamloops Blazers and Everett Silvertips went into the weekend with a combined three losses in regulation time and the Vancouver Giants promptly beat them on back-to-back nights.
The Giants downed the Silvertips, who were No. 3 in last week’s national rankings, by a 6-5 count on Saturday in Everett. The win came hot on the heels of a 3-1 triumph over the No. 2 Blazers at the Langley Events Centre on Friday.
Vancouver (13-7-1-0) has won six in a row.
Against the Silvertips (18-2-1-1), Vancouver rallied from 3-1 first-period and 4-3 second-period deficits.
Forward Zack Ostapchuk’s second goal of the evening and sixth of the season at 11:12 of the third period stood up as the game winner. Ostapchuk, the Ottawa Senators 2021 second rounder, has five goals in his past three games.
Boston Bruins 2021 first rounder Fabian Lysell had one goal and two assists for the Giants, giving the winger five goals and 12 points in the past five games. He has nine goals on the year.
Defenceman Alex Cotton also bagged his ninth and added two assists. The Detroit Red Wings 2020 fifth rounder has three goals and 10 points in his past six games. He is tied for the league lead in goals amongst defencemen.
Centres Ty Thorpe and Ty Halaburda added their eighth and third goals, respectively.
Florida Panthers 2020 third rounder Justin Sourdif had three assists in the win. The forward starts Team Canada world junior team camp on Thursday in Calgary and isn’t expected to play for the Giants when they visit Kamloops (17-4-0-0) on Wednesday. The Blazers followed up their loss to Vancouver with a 4-3 setback on Saturday to the Kelowna Rockets (11-6-0-2).
The Rockets are 3-0-0-0 against the Blazers this season.

Jackson Berezowski had two goals for Everett against the Giants.
Jesper Vikman, who’s a Vegas Golden Knights 2020 fifth rounder, turned away 43 shots in the Vancouver net. Koen MacInnes gave up six goals on 26 shots before getting pulled with just under nine minutes to play. Braden Holt stopped all three shots he faced in relief.
It was Teddy Bear Toss Night in Everett and Silvertip fans didn’t have to wait long to throw their stuffed toys, as Matthew Ng opened the scoring 1:54 into the game.
