Arrogance on display

Recently, as part of the joint parliamentary committee investigating the invoking of the Emergencies Act, Brantford-Brant MP Larry Brock questioned Deputy PM Chrystia Freeland. Brock’s questions focused on how Freeland relied upon a false report from the CBC to justify invoking the act, and particular language that Freeland had uttered in the House to describe protesting truckers. As has become standard Liberal practice, Freeland answered none of the questions, but instead attempted to quote some irrelevant, scripted response. The arrogance and smugness displayed by Freeland was nauseous, and seemingly reflected that she believes that she is not obligated to provide any information requested by Brock or the joint committee.

Assuredly, Canadians want to know the justification by the Trudeau Liberals for invoking the Emergencies Act for the first time in Canadian history. This measure granted the government sweeping powers that many would consider unconstitutional and a violation of charter rights. Hence, why the Emergencies Act was invoked should be clearly elucidated by the Liberal cabinet ministers involved. When the deputy PM chooses to not respond to essential and pertinent questions relating to the matter, it’s obvious that the Trudeau Liberals simply desire to orchestrate another hypocritical coverup.

Such unbridled arrogance is utterly repugnant, and reflects total disdain for the democratic process. Canadians should indeed be livid.

How about free gas?

So Irving Shipbuilding has decided, after bidding on and being awarded the contract to build Canada’s new warships, it needs at least $300 million of taxpayers’ money to upgrade its facilities, rather than using its own money.

It would be reasonable to assume the Irvings, one of the country’s wealthiest families, would be only too happy to reward the generosity of taxpayers with free gas at all its Irving gas stations for the next year, right?

In wrong order, Mr. PM

Most Canadians are struggling big time from the effects of inflation, especially at the gas pumps and the grocery stores. House prices and rents are soaring.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Chrystia Freeland recently announced plans to spend $8.9 billion to help Canadians deal with rising inflation. (Oh, how those Liberals love to spend!) Meanwhile, the Trudeau government has already announced plans to welcome from 360,000 to 445,000 new permanent residents to Canada in 2022, and even more in the following years.

Every slumlord who has ever lived knows the effects of low supply and high demand. Apparently our PM doesn’t have a clue or, even worse, doesn’t give a damn. There is a well-known expression to indicate folly, namely, getting the cart before the horse. A modification of that old saying is needed. But which one of Justin’s minions would dare to say, “Mister Trudeau, you are making another big mistake. You’re getting the residents before the housing.’”
