LETTER: Why do some women have more rights than others?
Article content
In his Easter message of 2022, Prime Minister Trudeau urged Canadians to “have compassion” and yet he recently has proposed eliminating registered charity status for all Canadian organizations which offer support to pregnant women and new moms who just want to keep their babies and are reaching out for care, be it emotional or material.
Prime Minister Trudeau often reiterates his beliefs in women’s rights, but is it only certain women who have rights?
Why should wanting to keep her baby take away a woman’s right to have help if needed?
I don’t understand the logic. I don’t understand how a government which is supposed to be a democratic one can penalize some women and support others.
If our country Canada is a real democracy, we should be allowed offer help and support for all those who need it, even to women who want to keep their babies. It is their “right’ as well.
