The choir was started in 1977 in Hamilton. Members come from a variety of backgrounds and skill levels but share a common love of choral music. Their aim is to bring higher quality choral singing to audiences and encourage self-development through music among the members.

On its website, the choir’s stated mission is to give back to the community through promoting artistic excellence and by supporting fundraising efforts by charitable organizations and service groups.

Performing in four-part harmony with piano accompaniment, their repertoire includes popular tunes, ballads, jazz, spirituals, songs from musicals, operas, hymns and folk songs.

The choir is a registered charity and over the years has raised $800,000 for a number of service groups, churches and other charitable organizations.

It will be 11 years in April since the sanctuary of Waterford United Church was destroyed by fire. Most of the church was rebuilt, using a design from church member Robert Judd.

The church’s trustees and board members at the time had the foresight to use insurance money to replace the Cassavant organ and purchase a grand piano. The sanctuary is regarded as acoustically exceptional. Consequently, musicians regard the church as a particularly satisfying performance venue.

Tickets for the March 29 concert cost $20 each. Phone 519-443-5261.

The church is at 135 Main St. S.
