Busy fall season ahead at Delhi library
Thank you so much for your support of our soup and sandwich lunch on October 4. The proceeds will be used for the construction of the reading garden.
Folks are already asking whether we might do the luncheon again and we are considering that possibility.
At the time of writing, the Friends of the Library are busy helping at the Norfolk County Public Library book sale at Norfolk County Fair. In addition, they will be busy preparing book art for the Dickens Christmas Craft Show the first weekend in December. Look for samples and pictures of the book art at Delhi branch.
The weekly scrapbooking club sessions resume on Oct. 17 from 1-3 p.m. Everyone is welcome, whether an expert or a novice. Ask for details about it at the library. Storytime is now running on Tuesdays at 10:30 a.m. until Dec. 17. This program is for children over the age of two years and their caregiver. Classes are 30-45 minutes in length. NCPL encourages you to spend time choosing books and other resources after the sessions.
On Oct. 25, during Ontario Public Library Week, courses in cursive writing and keyboarding will be held here. They are open to anyone in Grade 3 or older and will run from 4-5 p.m. On Oct. 26 at 1 p.m., there will be poetry readings by Darrell Epp, who will share his poetry and writing process during the session. His poetry volumes will be available.
Now it is time to prepare for the Christmas basket penny sale. Anyone who wishes to do so is welcome to put together a basket for the sale or to donate items which can be used in making up baskets.
Usually, the baskets have a theme and items related to the theme make up the basket. In other years, themes such as kitchen, chocolate, children, Christmas, etc., have determined the contents of the baskets.
If you would like to prepare one, just use your imagination and see what happens. The deadline for basket and item donations is November 20. The baskets will go on display and the sale of tickets will begin on Nov. 23. The draws for the baskets will take place in mid-December in time to use them as Christmas gifts if you are a lucky winner.
November 23 is also the date of Vera Vilez’s Christmas Lantern Workshop. The session will accommodate a maximum of 16 people. Look for the sample lantern on display now; full details are available at the library, where you can also sign up for the workshop. More upcoming events will appear here next month.
