Woodstock police briefs: Vehicle stolen overnight

Woodstock police are investigating after an SUV was reported stolen from a Champlain Avenue driveway some time overnight Thursday.

Police said the vehicle – a black Ford Expedition – was taken by unknown suspects between 11:15 p.m. on Thursday and 4 a.m. Friday morning from the home near Juliana Drive.

The SUV’s back windshield was decorated with a decal of stick figures wearing Toronto Maple Leaf jerseys while the back bumper had a noticeable scratch on its left side.

Restaurant break-in

Cash and food was stolen from a restaurant near Dundas and Clarke streets during an early Friday morning break-in, police said.

The unknown suspect – described as a five-foot-eight male wearing a white hooded sweater, jeans and white shoes and carrying a white backpack – pried open the back door to gain entrance to the business.

Weapon charges

A 24-year-old Woodstock man was arrested Friday night after officers responded to reports of two men arguing in the Cree Avenue Park area.

One man, police alleged, was brandishing a stun gun.

The arrested man was charged with weapon possession, carrying a concealed weapon and possession of a prohibited device.

Wallets, purse stolen

An unknown suspect smashed the windows of a 2017 Ford Escape and 2022 Ford Edge parked in a driveway at a Lakeview Drive home and stole wallets.

Later that same morning, an unknown suspect shattered the front passenger-side window of a vehicle parked in a lot on Devonshire and Vansittart avenues and stole a purse.
