The Woodstock Art Gallery reopened Tuesday with new safety measures in place for visitors looking to check out its exhibitions post-pandemic.
The gallery opened from noon to 4 p.m., with a special hour for seniors and vulnerable people from 11 a.m. to noon. The gallery will be open from Tuesday to Friday.
New safety measures include the screening of all attendees, physical distancing, cashless transactions and limiting the number of people in the building, among other measures. Masks should be worn in compliance with public health orders.
Current exhibitions include Walk On, the sculpture projects of John McEwen; Dance Me to the End of Love, a selection of works from the gallery’s collection exploring the themes of beauty, love, loss and longing drawing inspiration from the Leonard Cohen song of the same name; Plates of Printers, featuring recent print additions to the gallery’s collection; and Given Her Due, a show exploring the female artists of Oxford County from 1880-1980.
Several of these exhibitions were extended to this fall because of the pandemic.
The gallery is also showing two virtual exhibitions, Art Beat – featuring work from local students – and the gallery’s annual juried exhibition.
According to the gallery, memberships have been extended for four months because of the pandemic-related closure.
