Walpole Island teen charged in connection to youth being shot
A 16-year-old Walpole Island youth is facing several charges in connection to a teen who was seriously injured after being shot during an incident on Monday.
Members of the Lambton OPP responded at 2:45 p.m to help the Walpole Island First Nation Police Service with a 911 call on Snye Subdivision Road, stated a media release issued Wednesday afternoon.
Police said a firearm was allegedly discharged inside the home, injuring a 15-year-old victim, Lambton OPP said.
The youth was taken to hospital in serious condition.
The accused was arrested and charged with criminal negligence causing bodily harm, careless use of a firearm, possession of a prohibited weapon, unauthorized possession of a prohibited firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose, OPP said.
Police are continuing to investigate and will provide updates at a later date.
