Take Back the Night
Take Back the Night is an opportunity for the community to come together and demand an end to violence against women, support survivors of this violence, and honour the lives of those women who did not survive.
The march is for self-identified women only. It represents women reclaiming their right to safely exist in public space – a right which they are often denied due to legitimate fears of experiencing violence in those spaces.
“Night” is also symbolic of all of the contexts and circumstances where feminized bodies experience threat because of their gender. To demonstrate their solidarity during the women’s march, men are invited to participate in a separate activity that will be hosted at the community league.
Everyone is welcome to participate in the evening’s other activities which include speakers, community resources, crafts, and a speak-out.
Show your support for victims of violence on September 27, 2013. Join us and take back the night!
