Stolen property recovered in Tillsonburg

Ontario Provincial Police, Oxford County Detachment charged a 23-year-old male following a suspicious person complaint that led to the recovery of stolen property at a Lisgar Avenue, Tillsonburg address.

On Tuesday July 2, at 5:47 a.m., OPP responded to Lisgar Avenue for a report of a suspicious person. The OPP located several persons at the address.

OPP investigation led to the recovery of stolen gardening equipment and tools and a male was arrested. The male resisted during the course of the arrest but eventually was taken into custody.

OPP has charged 23-year-old Jesse South of Woodstock with Possession of property obtained by crime under $5,000; and Resisting arrest.

He was scheduled to appear at the Ontario Court of Justice in Woodstock at a later date to answer to the charges.

OPP have returned the recovered gardening equipment and tools to the OPP Tillsonburg detachment.

OPP are seeking the owners of these recovered items to have them returned.

It is believed the items were stolen from properties in the Herford Street area of Tillsonburg during the overnight/early morning hours of July 1-2.

Pedestrian struck by vehicle in Ingersoll

Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Oxford County Detachment is investigating a collision involving a pickup truck that struck a pedestrian on Thames Street South in Ingersoll.

On Tuesday, July 2, at 1:45 p.m., OPP, Oxford County Fire Services and Oxford County paramedics responded to Thames Street South where a witness reported an elderly female had been struck by a pickup truck.

Oxford County paramedics transported the 84-year-old female pedestrian to a local area hospital with serious injuries.

OPP investigation, thus far, determined the pickup truck was travelling southbound on Thames Street South when it struck a female walking westbound across Thames Street South.

The driver of the pickup truck remained on scene and is cooperating with police.

OPP Traffic Collision Investigators attended the scene and are assisting with the investigation.

Thames Street South was closed between St. Andrew Street and Charles Street for approximately three hours while emergency crews and investigators were on scene.

OPP continue to investigate is asking anyone who may have witnessed the collision or have any information to assist with the investigation to contact them at 1- 888 – 310 – 1122.

All-terrain vehicle, motocross bike collide

On Saturday, June 29, at approximately 6:47 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment and Norfolk County Paramedic Services responded to a collision at a Fernlea Side Road, Middleton address where a 25-year-old female and 3-year-old child were travelling on an All-Terrain Vehicle (ATV) when they collided with a 25-year-old male operating a motocross bike.

As a result of the collision, all three were ejected. They were subsequently transported to a local area hospital by ambulance to be treated for non-life threatening injuries.

The investigation is continuing.

Tools stolen from Houghton shop

On Saturday, June 29, at approximately 8:11 a.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP) Norfolk County Detachment investigated a theft at a 1st Concession Road ENR, Houghton address.

It was determined that on Friday, June 28, unknowns gained entry into a shop located on the property. Once inside, unknowns removed a DeWalt drill, grease gun and a chainsaw. The theft is estimated at approximately $1,500.

Nude person charged at Long Point

On Friday, June 28, at approximately 12:40 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police (OPP), Norfolk County Detachment were called to investigate after a person was observed walking around the beach nude at a Long Point address.

It was determined that between Thursday, June 27, and Friday, June 28, a male had been observed walking around nude on beach outside the Long Point Provincial Park. The park wardens patrolled the beach and located the male at which time police were contacted.

The investigation is continuing and charges are pending.

Steel barn roof stolen

On Monday, July 1, at approximately 12:45 p.m., the Ontario Provincial Police, Norfolk County Detachment investigated a break and enter at a 6th Concession Road, South Walsingham, address.

It was determined that unknowns gained entry and removed two chest freezers from the residence. A quantity of steel roofing was removed from the barn valued at approximately $3,000.

The OPP want to remind all community residents that if they observe any suspicious activity to please contact the police immediately.
