Robbery at Pioneer gas station in Tillsonburg

Oxford County Ontario Provincial Police responded to a robbery in Tillsonburg Thursday, Jan. 3 at approximately 3:52 a.m.

Through investigation it was revealed that four suspects arrived at the Pioneer Gas Bar on Broadway. One male suspect entered the store and robbed the store employee while brandishing a knife. The suspects then fled in a waiting vehicle with an undisclosed amount of money. The employee was not injured.

OPP observed the suspect vehicle, activated emergency lights and siren, then attempted a traffic stop northbound on Plank Line (Hwy 19).The vehicle failed to stop for police and a suspect apprehension pursuit was initiated. Responding officers were able to deploy a tire deflation device just prior to the suspect vehicle entering Highway 401 eastbound.

The vehicle was stopped and all four suspects were arrested. During the arrest, two suspects spit on officers and charges are pending relating to that interaction. The vehicle was towed and discovered to be stolen from London, Ont., and London City Police Service are conducting a separate investigation related to the vehicle theft.

The four suspects – a 15-year-old male youth, 17-year-old male youth, 16-year-old female youth, and 17 year-old female youth, all from London, were charged with the following and held for a bail hearing: Robbery with a weapon; Possession of property obtained by crime – over $5,000.

The youths cannot be identified in accordance with the Youth Criminal Justice Act.

Further charges are pending and the investigation is continuing.
