Police seize $105,000 in drugs, charge two Chatham residents

Two Chatham residents have been charged with various drug and firearms-related offences following the seizure Wednesday night of roughly $105,000 in suspected drugs at a Park Street home in Chatham.

Charged are an 18-year-old man and a 45-year-old woman. Both live on Park Street, police said Thursday.

Police say the man was taken into custody following a short struggle.

He’s charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (fentanyl); possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine); possession of a controlled substance (hydromorphone); unauthorized possession of a weapon; possession of a restricted firearm (with ammunition); careless storage of a firearm; resisting a peace officer; and seven counts of failing to comply with a release order.

He was held in custody on Thursday pending a bail hearing.

The woman is charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking (cocaine); possession of a restricted firearm (with ammunition); and careless storage of a firearm.

She was released pending a Sept. 11 court date.

Police said they also found at the Park Street home digital scales, cash, price lists, packaging material, a loaded handgun and a sawed off shotgun were also seized.
