Man facing assault charges
A 28-year-old man of no fixed address is facing assault charges after police responded to an incident on West Street in Simcoe just before 6 a.m. on Nov. 17.
Police say two individuals were involved in a verbal altercation that escalated to a physical confrontation. The victim fled from the residence and contacted police.
As a result, the man was charged with assault, uttering threats – cause death or bodily harm and fail to comply with probation order.
911 call saves life
Police are crediting a Good Samaritan making a 911 call with saving a life on Tuesday afternoon.
The individual noticed a man stumbling on Court Street in Simcoe and called police. When officers arrived the male was found unconscious on the front lawn of a residence.
The officers identified the medical crisis as an opioid overdose and administered Naloxone.
Paramedics arrived on scene but the 30-year-old man refused further assistance.
Generator stolen
A running generator was stolen from a 1st Concession Road, South Walsingham, address at some point between 10 p.m. and 11:30 p.m. on Nov. 17.
The stolen item is described as a red coloured, Honda Portable 5000w generator and is valued at about $4,000.
