Sarnia police are asking for the public’s help to locate a suspect in a Jan. 6 robbery on Roger Street that may have involved a handgun.

Police released a photo of Joshua Allen Spero, 26, of Sarnia and said he is wanted on a warrant for one count of forcible confinement and one count of robbery with violence.

Police said a 37-year-old man alleged he was walking on Rogers street when two individuals he knew invited him into a home, where he was confronted by two other men he also knew.

The victim said he wasn’t allowed to leave and was struck in the face, held by two of the individuals and then forced into the basement. It’s alleged one of the assailants reached into his jacket, pressed an object against the victim’s side and threatened to shoot him, police said.

It’s alleged one of the assailants also held a large knife. They demanded the victim give them drugs he didn’t have before one of the assailants remove the victim’s wallet, cellphone and other items.

It’s alleged the assailants continue to threaten the victim, and one suspect is said to have pulled out what appeared to be a handgun, police said.

After things calmed down, the victim’s wallet was returned, but with the money gone, and he was allowed to leave. The victim wasn’t significantly injured, police said.

Following an investigation, police said a 26-year-old Kettle and Stony Point man, a 41-year-old Sarnia man and a 47-year-old Sarnia man were arrested and are facing charges.

Tip leads to impaired driving arrest

Lambton OPP says officers made an arrest Saturday evening after receiving a tip from the public about a possible impaired driver on Wilkesport Line in St. Clair Township.

The tip came in at 6:30 p.m. and officers located the vehicle.

The driver was arrested and taken to the detachment where he provided breath samples that allegedly tested over the legal limit, police said.

A 61-year-old St. Clair Township man has been charged with impaired driving.
