The latest death was a woman in her 90s, according to public health officials.

It has been a grim January with respect to the pandemic, with the total number of deaths in Chatham-Kent growing by 14 since Dec. 31.

There were 164 new confirmed cases since Friday’s update, taking into account testing capacity. The seven-day rolling average is 64 cases per day. Cumulatively, there have been 5,685 cases in Chatham-Kent since the pandemic began.

There are 32 people currently in hospital with COVID-19, including 14 primarily being treated for the virus, according to the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance. Three are in intensive care.

One new outbreak was reported, with three cases at St. Andrew’s Residence in Chatham. There are currently 12 outbreaks ongoing.

Provincially, 3,861 people are hospitalized with COVID-19 as of Monday, with 615 people in intensive care. There were 36 new deaths.

There were 4,790 new confirmed cases, also taking into account testing capacity.
