One active Covid-19 case in Tillsonburg

As of Monday, June 8, there are three active cases of COVID-19 in the Oxford-Elgin region.

Southwestern Public Health (Oxford-Elgin) reports one ongoing case in Tillsonburg and two in St. Thomas.

A total of 5,953 people have been tested in Oxford-Elgin, including 576 pending test results.

In total, since the first positive tests March 23 (Elgin) and March 25 (Oxford) were recorded by Southwestern Public Health, there have been 75 cumulative cases in Oxford-Elgin – which includes 68 that are resolved (no longer infectious). Four people in Elgin County have died from the coronavirus. There have been no reported Covid-19 deaths in Oxford County.

Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit reports 228 active cases as of Monday. Since March, there have been 395 lab-confirmed cumulative cases, including 136 have recovered and 31 deaths in the H-N region.

As of Sunday, Middlesex-London had 86 active cases. From the 555 cumulative cases of coronavirus, 413 have been resolved, and there have been 56 deaths.

The Tillsonburg Assessment Centre is open Monday through Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. To book an appointment for COVID-19 testing call 1-855-905-6148. Visitors to the assessment centre are required to wear a face mask. If you do not have a mask (cloth or disposable) when you arrive at the assessment centre, a mask will be provided.

Booking a testing appointment in the Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit region can be made by calling the COVID-19 line at 519-426-6170 ext. 9999 between 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. Monday through Friday. Callers are asked to indicate if they have symptoms including fever of 37.8 C or greater, new or worsening cough, shortness of breath, sore throat, difficulty swallowing, and loss of taste or smell. Symptoms may also include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, abdominal pain, runny nose or nasal congestion. A member of the health unit team will return calls within two days to speak to individuals about scheduling an appointment.

Ontario has tested 866,889 people for COVID-19 so far, of which 831,218 were negative. As of Monday there are 3,918 active ongoing cases in the province. In Ontario there have been 2,276 COVID-19 deaths, as of Monday, June 8 (174 deaths since last Monday’s report).
