Norfolk County offices closed in response to shutdown
Norfolk County has closed several facilities for the next four weeks in response to the province’s latest pandemic shutdown measures.
Rising COVID-19 case and hospitalization numbers prompted Premier Doug Ford to announce a four-week ‘emergency brake’ shutdown that began on April 3.
As a result, Norfolk County will:
Close all administrative buildings to the public;
Close all museums, arenas, community halls across the county, and the Annaleise Carr Aquatic Centre in Simcoe;
Close the ServiceNorfolk counter at the Robinson Administration Building in Simcoe. ServiceNorfolk operations will continue via phone, email, mail/drop-box and by appointment.
County staff able to do so will continue to work from home.
Council meetings will continue to be held virtually.
Key services such as water treatment, garbage and recycling collection will continue. The Haldimand-Norfolk Health Unit’s public health activities, including those related to COVID-19, water sampling, and harm reduction will also be ongoing. There will be no change in operating hours at waste transfer stations.
Norfolk County libraries will remain open and provide contactless curbside, delivery or pick-up by reserving materials by phone or online. The public can also access computers, photocopiers or similar services at the library.
