Nine new cases of COVID-19 in H-N over weekend

The Haldimand Norfolk Health Unit reported five new cases of COVID-19 on Sunday morning, and four that were logged the previous day.

Statistics were not updated on the HNHU website on Saturday.

There are 27 active cases in the region, which has seen a total of 591 confirmed cases since the onset of the pandemic. Of those, 522 people have recovered.

There have been 32 COVID-related deaths in Haldimand and Norfolk counties, while five people who tested positive for the virus, died of other causes.

The increase in cases over the weekend comprise of five individuals in Simcoe, four in Courtland, and two each in Dunnville and Jarvis.

By age group, there are two new cases in the under-19 category, three in both the 30 to 39 and 40 to 49 groups, two in the 50 to 59 and 60 to 69 age groups and one in the 70 to 79 category.

Men continue to lead with 61 per cent of all cases since the pandemic began.

An outbreak is still ongoing at Grandview Lodge Long-Term Care Facility in Dunnville where three staff members tested positive on Oct. 24.
