Police on the weekend identified the victim as Michael Shawn Murray of Norfolk County.

Police and paramedics responded March 30 at about 2:30 p.m. to a report of a death at a King Street home. Murray’s body was taken to the Office of the Chief Coroner of Ontario in Toronto for a post-mortem, which ruled the cause of death as a homicide, police said.

Investigators are asking Delhi-area residents to check their properties for items of clothing and backpacks. Police are also asking for home surveillance footage that may assist in the investigation.

“The OPP reminds all members of the public to be aware of their personal safety at all times,” police said in a statement.

Anyone with information should contact OPP at 1-888-310-1122 or Crime Stoppers of Haldimand and Norfolk at 1-800-222-8477.

Callers to Crime Stoppers who help solve a crime are eligible for a cash reward of up to $2,000.

In a notice posted on the Murphy Funeral Home website, the family said Murray loved hockey, playing and refereeing.

He is survived by parents, Michael and Marilyn Murray, and brothers Carey Murray (Lori), Kevin Murray and Shawn Murray (April).

The family said memorial donations can be made to the Simcoe and District Humane Society.
