Online reporting is a secure, simple and convenient tool to report minor crimes, police said in a media release.

Crimes that are eligible for online reporting include:

  • Theft under $5,000;
  • Mischief / damage to property under $5,000;
  • Mischief / damage to vehicle under $5,000;
  • Theft from vehicle;
  • Lost / missing property under $5,000;
  • Stolen licence plates; and
  • Driving complaints (after the occurrence).

Last year, OPP officers in Ontario were sent to more than one million emergency and non-emergency calls.

Use of the online reporting system will allow frontline officers to focus on urgent calls and crime prevention in communities.

Online reporting can be done from any mobile device, laptop, tablet or computer with Internet access. To access the system to file a report users can go to opp.ca/reporting, choose your location and click on start a report. This will take the user to a secure link that will provide precise instructions on how to fill out the report.
