Manitoulin resident faces multiple charges in domestic incident

Accused had gun and was threatening violence at Yonge St. residence

A Manitoulin resident is accused of forcible confinement and pointing a gun during a domestic incident on the weekend.

Manitoulin OPP said officers responded Sunday around 1 a.m. to a dispute on Yonge Street in Carnarvon Township.

“Information provided to police was that one person had a firearm and was threatening violence,” the OPP said. “Upon arrival, police were able to locate and arrest one person for multiple offences.”

A 34-year-old resident of Carnarvon Township has been charged with assault, uttering threats, mischief, and numerous weapons offences, including pointing a firearm and possession of a weapon for a dangerous purpose.

The accused was held in custody to appear before the Ontario Court of Justice Gore Bay Bail Court then released. 

Due to the domestic nature of the incident, the name of the accused is being withheld to protect the identity of the victim.
