Environment Canada has issued a heat warning for the Sarnia area that could last several days, officials say.
The heat warning will be in place in place until at least Thursday, Lambton Public Health said in a statement Tuesday afternoon, and conditions will be monitored to determine if an extended warning will be issued for Friday.
Heat warnings are issued when daytime high temperatures are expected to reach 31 C or warmer and nighttime low temperatures are expected to sit at 20 C or warmer for two or more consecutive day, the health unit said.
Temperatures in Sarnia are expected to hit 31 C Wednesday and Friday, according to The Weather Network, with a high about 27 C expected Thursday.
