Grant will help repair Eagle Community Centre
The Municipality of West Elgin has delivered a $10,000 grant to help with a foundation repair project at the Eagle Community Centre.
“This 125-year-old school house is a wonderful example of what a dedicated group of community members can do, when they work hard to preserve a historical building, and at the same time bring the local community together,” West Elgin Coun. Bonnie Rowe said in a news release.
“We wish the board good luck in their restoration endeavors, and extend a big thank you for their stewardship of this community treasure over the past 50-plus years.”
Shelly Vergeer, treasurer with the ECC, thanked the municipality on behalf of the board and said they look forward to seeing the repairs completed.
The ECC is looking to hold its summer celebration event Aug. 21, pending the COVID-19 restrictions.
