Tillsonburg’s Family Day experience at the Tillsonburg Community Centre begins bright and early at 8 a.m.

But if you’re not the morning type, bring your family in the afternoon.

As in past years, breakfast will be served from 8-10 a.m. at the Tillsonburg Senior Centre. The cost is $2/person and includes pancakes, sausage, orange drink and coffee, generously donated by McDonald’s and cooked on-site.

For lunch, Gino’s Pizza is available, also at the Senior Centre. Buy pepperoni or cheese pizzas (large $12) or pizza slices for $2.

The main Family Draw is the activities – a carnival in the Lions Auditorium, the RBC ice zone at the Kinsmen Memorial Arena and Colin Campbell Community Arena (9 a.m. – 4 p.m.) – children must wear helmets on the ice, and swimming in the Kinsmen indoor pool.

RBC is also sponsoring an RBC Olympian visit from hockey player Renata Fast, who competed at the 2018 Winter Olympics. Fast has represented Canada since 2015 and has founded hockey camps to mentor and support the next generation of players – stop by and say ‘hello.’

Swimming will be offered in three time slots – 8:30-10 a.m., 11:30-1 and 3-4:30 p.m. A form can be filled out on the Tillsonburg Family Day website to reserve your time. Pre-registration is free, but there are only 150 spots available for each time slot.

The carnival, which is typically busy from the start of the day until 3 p.m., will include two full size bouncy castles, one toddler bouncer, and games and contests. Enjoy the free cotton candy in the lobby area while supplies last.

Entertainment has been planned in the Marwood Lounge – to be announced – including The 6 Day Zoo.

The entire event is free, with the exception of the food and beverages, thanks to generous sponsors and community volunteers.
