Eight new cases, two recoveries Wednesday in Southwestern public health region

There were eight new cases of COVID-19 Wednesday in the Southwestern public health region while two more people recovered.

Wednesday’s numbers bring the total confirmed cases since the pandemic began to 122 in the Elgin, Oxford and St. Thomas region.

As of Wednesday, 33 of those cases are ongoing, an increase of six cases from Tuesday.

There are now 15 active cases in Aylmer, six active cases in Bayham and five active cases in St. Thomas. There is one active case in Central Elgin.

There are currently four active cases in Tillsonburg and one active case in Norwich. One case has an address outside Ontario and is not represented in the municipal breakdown.

Data from Southwestern public health shows two cases recovered, one each from St. Thomas and Bayham.

Southwestern public health has tested 16,068 people to date, with about 0.8 per cent of tests coming back positive for the virus.
