For 10 years, the event has transformed the Aud at the Simcoe fairgrounds into a space to mingle while sampling local products from over 35 vendors.

The five-year winner of Festival and Events Ontario Top 100 Award kicked-off at the AUD at the Norfolk County Fairgrounds on April 4.

People make it a tradition to attend the event each year.

“We’ve been coming for three or four years, since we turned 19,” said Jordan Dosser and Jenna Miller of Simcoe.

Some vendors, such as David and Laken Knechtel from Knechtel’s in Port Dover have been part of the event since it opened.

David said his favourite part of the event is “the Lake Erie Perch, and the music.”

Ginny Buck, an employee at Frisky Beaver, is working at Eat & Drink for her third or fourth year.

“I just think it’s fun. It’s good to have local events. There’s good music, good food, good wine, and good beer,” said Buck.

Jason Mayo, the Food and Drink Ambassador for Norfolk County, was spending his evening helping Concession Road Brewery serve.

“I’m no stranger to any of these vendors because I love everything Norfolk,” said Mayo. “We don’t always have the access to eat all of these things together. You can pair New Limburg beer with Greens At Renton food, you don’t always get those opportunities.”

Eat & Drink takes a significant portion of the year to plan.

“As soon as fair is over we start planning this event right away,” said Chantal Zorad, the special events manager for the Norfolk County Fair. “We’re celebrating our tenth anniversary, and each of those 10 years we do better. We have more people come through, we have more vendors, it’s very exciting.”

The event this year is featuring 35 local vendors, and live entertainment from primarily local talent.

“This is my favourite event. Eat & Drink Norfolk is so social, it’s just fantastic,” said Felicia McMinn, one of the local musicians that will be performing at the event.
