A woman is facing drug and weapon charges after Chatham-Kent police responded to a disturbance call in Chatham.

Police said an argument between a woman and man had escalated when they arrived at a McNaughton Avenue East home in Chatham just before 2:30 p.m. Sunday. The two were arrested for allegedly assaulting one another.

A large quantity of suspected illegal drugs and Canadian cash was found on the woman, whom police said also was in possession of drug  drug paraphernalia, 19 cell phones and a stun gun.

A 32-year-old Chatham woman is charged with possession of a prohibited weapon, six counts of possession of a controlled substance for the purpose of trafficking and nine counts of failing to comply with a release order.

She was taken into custody and held for bail, police said. A 35-year-old Chatham man is charged with assault and was released with a Nov. 30 court date.
