Drug bust in Chatham yields fentanyl, ammunition, cash

A 38-year-old man was charged with possession for the purpose of trafficking and two counts of breaching a probation order after a drug bust Thursday on Raleigh Street in Chatham.

Chatham-Kent police said they found fentanyl, scales, ammunition and Canadian money while executing their warrant.

The man was released with a Sept. 3 court date.

Uttering threats

A 25-year-old man was charged with assault with a weapon and uttering threats after allegedly brandishing a knife at someone following a minor motor-vehicle collision Thursday in Chatham.

The man approached the alleged victim after the collision and made threats during an argument, police said.

He was released with an Aug. 25 court date.

Break and enter

Tools and a utility terrain vehicle were recovered after being stolen from a Main Street East building in Ridgetown overnight between Wednesday and Thursday.

Theft charge

A 29-year-old Wallaceburg man was charged with failing to comply, theft with a value less than $5,000 and possession of property obtained by a crime with a value less than $5,000 after allegedly taking merchandise from a St. Clair Street business in Chatham without trying to pay for it.

He has a Sept. 16 court date.
