A taxi driver suffered minor injuries after an alleged assault Jan. 3, Sarnia police say.

The accused reportedly requested multiple stops, yelled at the driver and then began striking the driver when the cab was in the middle of an intersection, police said.

After being struck, the driver pulled over and told the accused to exit the cab, police said.

The accused returned after occupants in a nearby apartment turned her away, and again struck the driver with closed fists, this time through the window, police said.

The accused was arrested at around 11:45 p.m. while walking away from the victim’s location, police said.

Keira Leigh Stirling is charged with assault. Her next court date is Jan. 7.

Police dog tracks down suspect from stolen vehicle: OPP

Blitz, a general service dog with an OPP canine unit, along with emergency response team officers, are credited with tracking down an alleged car thief, police say.

Walpole Island police and Lambton OPP were contacted at 12:15 p.m. Tuesday about a stolen vehicle traveling on Altiman Road, near River Road, Lambton OPP said, adding an individual was seen fleeing into a nearby bush lot.

Police tracked the individual to a vacant property, police said.

Joseph Kiyoshk, 38, of Walpole Island is charged with motor vehicle theft, prohibited operation, and breaking and entering.

The accused has been held in custody pending a bail hearing, police said.

Cocaine found at RIDE check

A Reduce Impaired Driving Everywhere (RIDE) check on New Year’s Eve turned up suspected cocaine, police say.

A driver’s vehicle was searched around 7 p.m. after an infraction under the Cannabis Control Act at the Ontario Street South checkpoint in Grand Bend, Lambton OPP said.

Aiden Osborn, 20, of Sarnia is charged with possession and having care or control of a vehicle with cannabis readily available, police said.

The accused has been released and is scheduled in court at a later date, police said.
