Cold weather alert issued

A cold weather alert was issued by Lambton public health after Environment Canada forecasted temperatures that are expected to dip below -15C overnight and Wednesday.
The alert is expected to remain in effect until Thursday, officials with the health unit said in a news release.
People are encouraged to dress in layers, shield their faces and necks from wind, and limit time outdoors, the health unit said.
Hypothermia symptoms include pale skin, lethargy, confusion, excessive shivering and hallucinations, officials said.
Lambton County social services is available at 519-344-2062 Monday to Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to assist people experiencing homelessness, officials said. Outside of those hours, call the Good Shepherd’s Lodge at 519-344-1679.
