Chatham-Kent police stopped a woman who was speeding on Middle Line shortly after 5 a.m. last Saturday.

Police said she was charged with driving with no insurance and her vehicle was towed from the scene.

Before the vehicle was towed, however, an inventory search was undertaken of several items found in the back seat, including a radio-detection electrical locator, a Honda inverter generator, a battery-operated grease gun, an electrical laser, a sledge hammer, a sledge axe, a set of bolt cutters and a pry bar.

Believing the property was stolen, police said the investigating officer seized the items.

Police allege the items, valued around $8,000, had been stolen from a van belonging to a hydro company from Amherstburg that was parked at a job site on Mersea Road in Leamington.

Later that night, the pair were arrested and charged with being in possession of property obtained by a crime with a value more than $5,000.

They were each given court dates while the recovered property was returned to the owner, police said.
