Dr. Anh Nguyen worked previously at the Chatham-Kent Health Alliance in 2013 as a hospitalist, or a doctor who only works in a hospital, before moving away for personal reasons.

“We are delighted to welcome back Dr. Nguyen to our clinical team and the community of Chatham-Kent,” said Dr. Pervez Faruqi, the hospital alliance’s chief of staff. “Her contributions to our services will continue to be a great addition to CKHA and help us further our commitment to delivering patient and family-centered care.”

Nguyen has extensive medical training and experience will be a great addition to the alliance’s hospitalist team, he added.

Nguyen completed her Doctor of Medicine at Ross University of Medicine and medical residency in Virginia and South Carolina before coming to Canada to practice in St. John, N.B., from which she moved to Ontario.

“I’m glad to be back in Chatham-Kent practicing at CKHA,” Nguyen said. “I look forward to working with the clinical team in the delivery of safe, high-quality care.”

The hospitalist program is vital to the care provided at CKHA.

“These physicians oversee the medical care for many of our inpatient areas, such as the medicine units, complex continuing care, and the rehabilitation unit,” the CKHA said.

In addition to being involved in the daily care of patients across units, hospitalists manage admissions of patients from the emergency room and provide support to patients who have physical needs in the mental health inpatient unit, the hospital said.
