Charges in drug trafficking investigation

Five Brantford residents are facing charges in a drug trafficking investigation.

Six Nations police said that, with help from Brantford police, they made arrests on Sept. 23 after searching an apartment on Park Avenue in the city and stopping a vehicle. An infant found in the apartment was put in the care of Brant Family and Children’s Service.

Police said a search of the vehicle and the home yielded 10.6 grams of fentanyl and one gram of methamphetamine, with a street value of $5,800. A handgun, digital scales, cash and debt list also were seized.

Police said they charged three woman, aged 37, 33 and 32, and two men, aged 29 and 26.

The youngest woman is charged with abandoning a child.

The other women and the younger man are each charged with possession of fentanyl for the purpose of trafficking and possession under $5,000. The older woman is also charged with possession of Xanax and hydromorphone and abandoning a child.

The older man man is charged with possession of methamphetamines, abandoning a child and failing to comply with a release order.
