Assumption College senior student Aidan O’Brien will be the Brant Haldimand Norfolk Catholic District School Board’s student trustee for 2021-22.
“Aidan will be the voice of the students that we serve,” said board chair Rick Petrella. “This is an incredibly important position, as the student trustee helps to ensure the board is well informed in respect to the needs of all when making decisions that impact students.”
As student trustee, O’Brien will work with the student senate and help put into action the board’s 2020-23 strategic plan. He also will represent the board at the provincial level as a member of the Ontario Catholic Student Trustees’ Association.
“I want to use my position as student trustee to make the school experience better for all students,” said O’Brien. “I connect with my peers to see what they feel is important and will use this position to make a difference.”
An honour roll student since Grade 9, O’Brien is a member of school council, the student senate, various sports teams and the STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, Math) Club.
Petrella thanked outgoing student trustee Alex Medeiros for her contributions during the 2020-21 school year, “including her insight and efforts during the pandemic.”
