When Chuck Slawich and Chris Stewart launched Emrick Mechanical in March 2021, they set out to build Brantford’s best and most trusted HVAC services company from the ground up, with a simple strategy that has worked remarkably well.
They decided to treat every customer as if they were a close friend or family member. There would be no salesmanship, and no arm-twisting — just good, honest advice based on their nearly 30 years of combined experience.
“We definitely like the idea of being trusted,” Slawich, a residential HVAC specialist who was born and in Brantford and has 19 years of industry experience.
“In this business, it’s a huge thing,” he said. “It gives you the opportunity to have long-term relationships with customers.”
Stewart, also born and raised in Brantford, is Emrick Mechanical’s commercial HVAC specialist. Since starting in 2011, he has worked with big-name clients like Subway, Wendy’s and Pita Pit, and has built a strong reputation working in the HVAC industry.
His roots in the community run deep, and inter-county baseball fans might remember him from his days with the Brantford Red Sox, where he was a sturdy second baseman.
“It’s because of our relationships,” said Stewart when asked why big-name commercial clients work with Emrick Mechanical.
“I’ve been with Wendy’s for 10 years … and I’ve created that relationship with them. At that point, it’s not the company (they trust for the job), it’s the person.”
Emrick Mechanical is a full-service HVAC solutions company, with extensive installation and repair experience in everything from large-scale commercial buildings, single-family homes, and everything in between.
On the commercial side, Emrick Mechanical installs and repairs rooftop HVAC units, boilers, exhaust fans, walk-in freezers and refrigerators. On the residential side, they install and repair furnaces, air conditioning systems, fireplaces, heat-recovery units, residential boilers, ductless splits and humidifiers.
“We’re not just a one-way road,” noted Stewart. “If we install it, we can also service it.”
As long-time Brantford residents, both Slawich and Stewart are committed to serving the community and giving back in every way they can.
“I want to be able to give back to Brantford because Brantford gave to me,” said Stewart, noting many local businesses sponsored his sports teams growing up.
“We’ll help anybody out with any type of job — doesn’t matter the size,” said Slawich. “And that’s what we want to be — a long-term commitment to this city.”
