Tojo's will celebrate Anthony Bourdain day on June 25 with a special dish
Anthony Bourdain’s celebrity chef friends Eric Ripert and Jose Andres have declared June 25 Bourdain Day. In Vancouver, Tojo will be honouring the guy with a repeat of the menu he prepared for Bourdain back in 2008 for an episode of No Reservations.
The seven-course menu includes yakitori with chicken breast, chicken meatball, quail egg and chicken heart (Bourdain loved the off-cuts), Dungeness crab salad, spot prawn with halibut cheek, morels, beet, fiddle head, kale and swiss chard salad, nigiri and strawberry mochi. “That’s unbelievable. That’s a religious experience,” Bourdain said on tasting the West Coast tuna toro nigiri course of the omakase dinner.
It costs $150 per person and limited orders are available until the end of spot prawn season. Fifteen per cent from the omakase sales will be donated to Mind the Bar, supporting local restaurant workers dealing with depression. Call 604-872-8050 to reserve.
