After more than 30 years in business, this family-owned local business continues to pride itself on their excellent customer service, quality products and certified professional technicians.

George Postma opened Postma Heating and Cooling Inc. in 1989 and continues to operate the company alongside son Caleb. While George looks after the commercial sheet metal installations, Caleb oversees the residential heating, cooling and plumbing services.

“We are seeing more and more losses in basements due to flooding caused by sewer back-ups,” explains Caleb, president of Postma Heating and Cooling. “Installing a backwater valve in your sewer line will help keep you protected.”

When an outside sewer line overflows, usually after a heavy downpour, there is a chance that it can back up, filling the sewer line to your house and ultimately flow inside your home or business. Backwater valves are one-way valves that allow sewage and waste to flow in only one direction — out of your home. When a sewer back up occurs, the valve automatically closes, preventing any of that from entering your lines and ultimately your basement.

Although not mandatory in existing homes, the backwater valves are now required in new construction builds.

“Insurance companies are certainly recommending that backwater valves be installed to protect against flooding,” explains Caleb. “Some insurance companies are so committed that they will either help finance the cost or provide rebates on insurance premiums when installed. Our staff can help you navigate your purchase through participating insurance companies.”

“We have always believed in hiring good people and then letting them be good. This mentality has created an environment where our staff always do what’s right for the customer and they take pride in what they do.”

Another happy client, Jeff, was thrilled when he was told he did not need a new central air unit. “Chad was super knowledgeable and suggested servicing my existing unit before even looking at quoting a new one, as he felt airflow and dirt build-up was likely the issue for failure,” Jeff said. “The tech arrived the following day as scheduled. Service was A+, pricing was reasonable and problem fixed. Highly recommend this group. Good employees, good service and good products.”

For a limited time, Postma Heating and Cooling is offering $300 off the regular price of the purchase and installation of backwater valves. “It’s well worth the investment for your peace of mind.”
