“Our summer staff, in partnership with some wonderful local organizations have a whole slate of fun and free activities planned for ages 0-17,” noted Director Carley Angelstad.

The free program is delivered to public libraries across Canada to help inspire kids to read their own way throughout the summer, to prevent summer slide and build a lifelong love of learning.

The program is designed to help families participate in a variety of ways; at home, online or at the library.

Kids who sign up can track their reading minutes, and earn a chance to win prizes along with the weekly programs offered.

This year, while the province has eased restrictions, the library plans to host many of the programs at Hector King-Hunter Park, as well as other locations around town.

“Each event on our website notes the location, but if folks are unsure, they can contact us,” Angelstad said.

Additionally registration will be required for programs this summer with capacity for each program varying.

July 7 will have a Tot and Me: Little Movers for children 0 to 6 at 10 a.m., followed by string art for children age 7 to 12 at 2 p.m.

July 8 kids age 0-12 can make paper plate dinosaurs at 11 a.m., followed by string art once again for children age 13 to 17.

The week will wrap up on July 9 with a pop up library at Winkler Park at 10 a.m. to 12 p.m.
