Charlotte and Sarah Command have come a long way from their early days performing at events in the city of Spruce Grove.

The Reporter/Examiner has learned that the now Toronto-based pair have recently debuted their first single, dubbed I Like It. The lyric video for the song whose sound is reminiscent of the English singer Charli XCX has more than 1,000 views on YouTube as of filing and has played on various streaming platforms and radio stations in addition to being distributed under the Republic Records and Universal Music banners.

“The song was supposed to be released in April,” the pair wrote on their Facebook page. “But we delayed it due to the pandemic. We are so excited that we can share this track and what we have been working towards … in the meantime, wash ur [sic] hands and do not be racist.”

In the earlier days of their career, they dabbled in the country music genre before ultimately making a switch to different sounds in 2015. While things have changed in the years since, at the time, Sarah Command said they would never forget their early performing roots.

“We still write country music … it’s still very close to our heart,” she said in a 2015 article.

More about the pair and their present and future artistic endeavours will be featured in an upcoming edition.
