The awards, which will be live-streamed, will also feature performances by Dallas Smith, Tenille Arts, The Recklaws, Tim Hicks and Don Amero. Ell, a former Calgary teen guitar prodigy who lives in Nashville, has also been nominated for five CCMAs this year, making her the most nominated female artist of 2021. She is up for Album of the Year for Heart Theory, Video of the Year, Female Artist of the Year, Songwriter of the Year and Interactive Artist or Group of the Year. Earlier this year, Heart Theory was nominated for a Juno in the Best Country Album category.

It kicks off what will be a productive few years for the artist, who was discovered as a precociously talented guitar player by Randy Bachman when she was still a teenager in Calgary. She is also embarking on her first headlining Canadian tour, which brings her to Calgary’s Palace Theatre on Nov. 20.

It was also announced in late October that Ell will be hosting Citytv’s Canada’s Got Talent, which will air in the spring of 2022 with judges Howie Mandell, Lilly Singh, Kardinal Offishall and Trish Stratus.

On top of that, Ell just recently released her first Christmas single, It’s Beginning to Look a Lot Like Christmas, earlier this month. Ell spent three years writing Heart Theory, which spawned the No. 1 Canadian hit Want Me Back. What Happens in a Small Town, her duet with singer Brantley Gilbert, hit No. 1 in the U.S. in 2019.

In 2020, Ell also launched #MakeYouMovement with the Community Foundation of Middle Tennessee to support at-risk youth and survivors of domestic abuse and sexual assault.

Ell began performing at the age of 10 in Calgary and moved to Nashville more than a decade ago.
