Actors Keanu Reeves and Carrie-Anne Moss have returned to work on the set of The Matrix 4 in Germany following the coronavirus shutdown.

The cast and crew had been in the middle of shooting the long-awaited sci-fi sequel with writer/director Lana Wachowski in March when the COVID-19 pandemic forced production to grind to a halt, but cameras began to roll again this week, under strict safety rules.

Photos obtained by TMZ show Reeves and Moss on location in Berlin to reprise their lead roles as Neo and Trinity, while franchise newcomer Neil Patrick Harris was also seen getting back to work.

The news of the production restart emerges a week after The Matrix 4’s release date was pushed back from May 2021 to April 2022.

Reeves and Moss teamed up for the first The Matrix movie in 1999, and followed it up with two sequels, The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, which were launched six months apart in 2003.
