London’s music community will have an awards celebration this year, but theatre enthusiasts will have to wait.
There will be no Brickenden Awards to celebrate excellence in theatre, but Mario Circelli, chair of the Forest City London Music Awards, said a live, virtual or hybrid event will be held in late May or June.
“We’re already in the planning stages and we’ve broken it down to three possibilities, depending on the COVID-19 restrictions,” said Circelli.
“Realistically, we’ll probably still be facing some restrictions, in which case we can still put together a virtual London Music Week like last year. That was a good learning experience for us. I thought we pulled off a spectacular celebration. I know people were very happy with it and impressed by the quality.”
Circelli said the only significant change expected is the removal of a requirement to have performed live in 2020 to qualify for various awards.
