“Last year our group show focused on the artists’ experiences in 2020 and specifically with the beginning of the pandemic,” said Danielle Hoevenaars, the gallery’s associate director.
“We enjoyed seeing the breadth of work that was produced around a single idea and this year we selected a new theme for the exhibition, dusk and dawn, where the artists were encouraged to work in their own style to capture the distinct imagery or more ephemeral qualities of these times of day.”
Artists with works in the show include Anna Koot, Carol Finkbeiner Thomas, Catherine Morrisey, Dana Cowie, Denise Antaya, Jane Roy, Jeanette Obbink, Johnnene Maddison, Kim Harrison, Pat Gibson, Peter John Reid, Robin Hollingdrake and Sheila Davis.
“We all have different personal experiences with dusk and dawn,” Hoevenaars said.
“For early risers, the dawn welcomes new energy and new possibilities. The night owls among us might find dusk energizing, or a time that brings about creative inspiration. Regardless of your own dusk and dawn routines, they are both times of change marked by beautiful shifts in the natural light.”
